JOINING GUMT
WE WANT YOU TO TRYOUT FOR GEORGETOWN
UNIVERSITY MOCK TRIAL!
GUMT only holds tryouts once per year in early September for students who are looking to join the team. You do not have to be a freshman to tryout for the team; we strongly encourage sophomores and upperclassmen to tryout as well!
Our tryout cycle for the 2023-2024 school year begins September 9th and 10th. If you want to join the team or learn more about the tryout process, check out our table at the 2023 fall CAB fair on August 26th. You can also send us an email (gumocktrial@gmail.com) at any time with questions about GUMT or the tryout process!
We will also be holding information sessions before tryouts. You can sign up for an information sessions here . Attending an information session is MANDATORY before signing up to try out for GUMT. If this is not possible for you or you have conflicts, please reach out to us either at the CAB fair or by email.

Who Are We Looking For?
PEOPLE WITH...
Interest in Public Speaking
If you love debating, giving speeches, or presenting arguments, GUMT is the place for you. Being a good attorney or witness requires the ability to persuade your judges. Anyone with a passion for public speaking can make a great addition to the success of GUMT.
Interest in the Law
Interested in going to law school? Want to know more about how a courtroom actually works? Georgetown Mock Trial is a perfect place to explore a passion for the law and to get first-hand experience in the functioning of the legal process in and outside the courtroom.
Interest in Acting
Half of the Mock Trial experience is the playing of witnesses. From interesting accents to expert analyses, good witnesses require committed actors. So even if you're not interested in public speaking or law, you can still be an essential member of GUMT.
Interest in Something New
Part of what makes GUMT such a unique and valuable experience is the diversity of skills and interests of people who join our team. Whether or not you have any experience in public speaking or acting, if you are interested in Mock Trial we would love to have you!
